Issues migrating Google email

I am considering Zoho because Google will start charging for G Suite legacy free edition.    So, a key element in my decision is the ability to migrate as much from Google as possible.  I am giving email a try first, but after hours of trying, I can't make it work. 

I attempted 3 ways:
  1. IMAP
  2. POP
  3. Workspace

1 and 2 fail to authenticate.  In fact, that's what Zoho reports, but the attempts do authenticate all right because Google sends me a warning that the Zoho application is not secure enough...



I set "less secure mode" ignoring all warnings from Google, but that didn't help either.

I tried 3. Workspace, but couldn't figure out how to get a "secret key file" from Google and I'd rather stay away from that for the time being because getting all the Google API credentials, service superuser and such, set up is very involved.
