Last modified date of a document

Last modified date of a document

I use a java script to show the last modified date of a document but although it is edited in html and works when uploaded to my web page it doesn't appear on the zohowriter preview pane. Why is this and can anything be done to fix it?
If you can give me a simple answer I can understand I will register as a user.
