Not getting my sent emails placed in contacts

Not getting my sent emails placed in contacts

When I receive emails from a contact through my gmail account they are going into the emails in the contact section.  However, when I send an email through gmail to a contact it does not go into the emails in the contact section.  Wha tis the problem?
