Outlook Plugin for CRM does not "pull" all contacts from CRM
Current Edition of CRM: Professional
Current version of Outlook: 2016
Potential Issue:
- Syncing contacts from CRM to Outlook failed to pull all contacts from CRM (it pulled 60 of 197 contacts)
- After some research, it was found that the plugin was only pulling the 60 contacts that were set to Standar" layout in the Contacts module
- Viewing non-synced contacts in CRM clearly showed that the record layout was not the Standard module layout
- Since this is Professional edition of CRM the layout cannot be changed
- I Previously had Enterprise edition and did create a custom layout assigned to Contacts, so this scenario makes sense
- What to Do?
My Resolution:
- Upgrade to Enterprise edition
- Change all my contacts to Standard layout
- Delete the custom layout
- Downgrade to Professional
- Resync contacts in Outlook Plugin
This did work, however, the downgrade from Enterprise to Professional should probably warn the user when custom layouts have been assigned. When a custom layout is deleted in Enterprise edition, it does prompt the user to assign a new layout to handle the records where the custom layout was assigned. Something similar to this would be helpful during downgrade. Also, after downgrade, some of my contacts would display in my custom field layout, and some would display in standard so this is confusing since you cannot create custom layouts in the Professional edition.
