Person in Contacts file, but not found if I try to email him

Person in Contacts file, but not found if I try to email him

I can view the Contacts and see the person is present, but if I try to address an email he does not show up.
If I use the widget at the left end of the To: field and click on the alpha 'D' he is not there either. Other 'Ds" are.
