Reuse accidentally deleted username

I've messaged support a couple of times, but from the replies I've had I don't think they understood the problem (it's not a logon problem)...
I accidentally added the alias chair@ to the wrong e-mail user (admin@) and then deleted it immediately.
On trying to add it to the correct user (chairs@) I get the error message
"
The email address you have entered belongs to a different deployment/region. Please contact support@zohoaccounts.com for assistance."
I understand that this is the message you get when you try to reuse a previously deleted username / alias.
Is there any way the alias chair@ can be released so that I can reuse it for the correct user?
