Seperate departments from categories in Community

It would be nice if we can add a category in the Community apart from the departments.
Our use case is:
We have one support department but want to have more than one category in the community. Therefore we now have made more departments. The problem now is that when a users wants add a request in our help center, the user can choose for which department they want to add a ticket. This is a problem because the support department only watches the ticket from one deparment and don't want to check all departments for incoming tickets.
