Urgent: Problem when text is pasted from MS Word
We have an urgent problem that is endangering our ability to continue using Zoho for our schools assignment system.
We are using the Zoho Writer remote API. When our users click Save in Zoho Writer, the document is saved as an ODT binary in our database. This worked just fine until last Thursday or Friday.
As you are probably aware, when a user copies text from Microsoft Word to the Windows clipboard, it is copied as HTML that includes a number of proprietary Microsoft tags (e.g. <place>) and CSS styles (e.g. mso-bidi-font-weight). Ever since last Thursday or Friday, we have found that whenever a user copies text from Microsoft Word and pastes it into Zoho Writer, upon clicking Save in Zoho writer, the binary of an entirely blank ODT is saved to our database. By using the Toggle HTML Source feature of Zoho writer, I have found that it is only when all of the proprietary Microsoft tags and CSS styles are stripped out that the document will save to our database properly.
Many of our users are accustomed to doing copy and paste from Microsoft Word, and if they are no longer able to do this, we will have to revert back to our old assignment system and stop using Zoho. I already have an e-mail inbox full of complaints from students who thought they saved their assignments, only to find that nothing was saved at all. I would like to ask you to please undo whatever change you made last week that caused this problem.
