Zia Dashboard Insights : turn your dashboard into decisions

Zia Dashboard Insights : turn your dashboard into decisions

When you look at a chart or KPI in a dashboard, you would possibly see something like:

Revenue: $2.4M ↓ 18% vs last month.

It can be a positive growth or a negative one, or a dip in revenue, a spike in deals, a slowdown in renewals—all you usually see is what is happening in your data, but not the why.

Although these patterns stand out visually, understanding what drives them often means opening more reports, slicing by region or segment, and manually piecing the story together. For instance, a sales manager reviewing a revenue trend chart might quickly spot that March dipped while May spiked, but uncovering the reasons would require jumping into regional reports, product breakdowns, and customer segment analyses.

Zia Dashboard Insights closes this gap by turning the components into a self-explaining data story. It highlights the important changes, anomalies, trends, top contributors, etc. right where users are already looking, provides immediate narrative explanations that would otherwise require manual analysis.

For a sales manager, this can mean understanding a revenue dip in minutes instead of days: seeing that the issue is concentrated in repeat purchases from existing customers, or that growth is being driven by a specific region or segment. For frontline reps, it translates into faster, more confident decisions about where to focus and what to do next, with less energy spent deciphering charts and more energy acting on what the data is telling them.

Here's how it works:

When you click the Zia icon near a component, Zia analyses the underlying data and surfaces insights such as trends, spikes, dips, and other notable changes—explained in plain language rather than just numbers.

When you click the Zia icon on a supported component:
  1. Zia evaluates the data powering that component (for example, a KPI over time or a target meter’s progress).
  2. It identifies patterns such as increases, decreases, spikes, dips, and other notable changes.
  3. It then generates a set of human-readable insights that explain what is happening and, where possible, point to contributing factors.
For example, if you are viewing a revenue trend KPI for the last six months, instead of just noticing a dip in March and a spike in May, Zia might say:
  1. “Revenue dropped by 15% in March due to a 20% decline in repeat purchases from existing customers.”
  2. “Revenue spiked in May, driven by a 30% increase in new enterprise customers, particularly from the North region.”
These insights appear in a dedicated Zia Dashboard Insights panel, which is organized into two complementary views: Text View and Chart View.

Text View: Narratives in plain language
The Text View shows Zia’s findings as short, readable insights.
Each insight has a concise title that summarizes the main takeaway, with key numbers to reflect increases or decreases. This makes it easy to scan the list and see what’s changed, by how much, and in which direction—without spending time decoding the underlying visual.

Chart View: Visual detail for deeper understanding
The Chart View complements the text narratives by adding visual clarity to detailed insights.

Where the original component might only show an overall trend or target, the Chart View highlights the specific portions that constitute an insight and adds detail through tooltips.

Together, Text View and Chart View give you both the explanation and the supporting visuals in one place.
Info
Points to be noted
  1. In the current release, Zia Dashboard Insights is available for all types of KPI components and all types of Target Meter components.
  2. The Zia icon near a component is the entry point to Zia Dashboard Insights; if it is greyed out, insights are not currently available for that component.
  3. When interpreting a component configured for a current period (like “this month”), Zia evaluates data from the start of the period to the current date and generates insights accordingly.
