ZOHO CRM - telephone VIOP pop up - problem automatically creating contacts (adding new contacts for all telephone #)

When you switched over to the new UI for telephony integration in ZOHO CRM the application started creating new contact records for 100% of the inbound calls using the telephone number (see attached). 

How to I fix this so it does not do it anymore?  Is there a way to add the inbound telephone number to an existing record?
