Up until recently, everything was going fine, but for the past week or so, I have not been able to a sync new, changed or deleted contacts

everything else, such as tasks and calendar is syncing fine, but contacts have stopped syncing.

The dialog box comes up briefly to show progress, but then disappears and nothing happens

There are 1493 contacts currently on Outlook as at the last proper sync.
