Zoho Payroll: Product Updates | September 2024

In today's fast-paced world, every inefficiency in payroll management adds up, costing you time, accuracy, and ultimately, your peace of mind.

Imagine a system where the business expense reports of employees are reimbursed along with their payroll, rehiring exited employees is a breeze, diverse payment modes are supported, and incorrect employee records are easily cleared from pay runs.

Over the past month, we've released key solutions that bring this vision to life:
  • Rehire employees who've exited over the past year (UAE)
  • Record Salary Card payments (UAE)
  • Remove skipped employees in pay runs with Force Delete (India)
  • Reimburse business expenses along with their salary payments (US)
Read on to discover how these features can positively impact your business.

Rehire Employees who've exited over the past year (UAE)

As your organization grows and evolves, so does your team. Rehiring valuable employees who have previously left can be a strategic move, but the process of adding them back into your system can be complex and time-consuming. Recognizing this, we’ve enhanced our Rehire Employee feature in Zoho Payroll, making it easier than ever to bring back employees who have previously exited your organization.

Previously available for India, this feature is now extended to our customers in the UAE, allowing you to seamlessly rehire employees with minimal effort. When an employee who worked in your organization during the previous financial year has exited, Zoho Payroll automatically fetches their details for the current financial year. This means no more manual data entry—everything from their previous employment history to their financial details is instantly accessible.

Note:This feature is currently in early access. If you’d like to enable it, simply reach out to support@zohopayroll.com.

This feature is equipped to handle all types of rehiring scenarios—whether the employee had no interim employment, worked elsewhere before returning, or has multiple employment histories within the same financial year. Read Help Document

Record Salary Card payments (UAE)

The adoption of prepaid salary cards for salary disbursement has been on the rise in the UAE, driven by the regulatory support from systems like the Wage Protection System (WPS), which mandate electronic salary payments. Recognizing this growing need, we’ve introduced the ability to use Salary Card as a payment mode to pay your employees in Zoho Payroll for the UAE. Read Help Document

This new feature not only streamlines salary disbursement but also makes it easier to generate Salary Information Files (SIF) after processing payroll, with options to filter based on Salary Card or combined payment modes. Read Help Document

Remove skipped employees in pay runs with Force Delete (IN)

Lingering employee records can be a significant source of frustration, especially when employees are added to pay runs but repeatedly skipped due to onboarding issues or other complications. Previously, these records cluttered your system because deleting them was restricted.

With our new Force Delete feature, you can now effortlessly clear these outdated records, even if an employee has been skipped in multiple pay runs.

Note: However, if an employee has been paid in even a single pay run, you will not be able to force delete the employee, ensuring that critical payroll data is never lost.

Reimburse business expenses along with salary payments (US)

Traditionally, salary payments and expense reimbursements have been treated as separate tasks, each with its own challenges, leading to increased administrative work and potential for errors. Zoho Payroll's new Expense Integration feature addresses these issues by combining salary payments and expense reimbursements into a single, payment process.

This integration also ensures user sync between Zoho Expense and Zoho Payroll, where employees in Zoho Payroll are automatically recognized as submitters in Zoho Expense. You can also sync users from Zoho Expense to become employees in Zoho Payroll, simplifying administrative tasks and boosting overall efficiency.
