ZohoCRM Outlook plugin not seeing newly added contacts

I have Outlook 2007 and use the Outlook plugin to integrate with Zoho CRM. I also use a Cardscan business card scanner to add new contacts into Outlook.

After I scan cards into Cardscan and validate them (including adding the Zoho category), I then sync them with Outlook using the Cardscan software. So far, so good.

When I then go to sync Outlook with Zoho, using the plugin, the newly added cards do not appear. As far as I can tell, they do not appear anywhere in the connector: not on the "excluded contacts" page, or in the subsequent sync page. It is still the same if I restart Oulook.

It is difficult to be sure about the exclusions list as it is not sortable in any way and the option to save as a file doesn;t work.

I have confirmed that they appear in the Outlook contacts and have the correct category set
