Convert Item to composite item

When using Zoho CRM integrated with Zoho Inventory/Books, the item creation process is a little messy.  After a few years of trial and error, we have settled on creating items in CRM, which are sync'ed to Zoho Inventory using Zoho's own internal integration.  The problem we face is that Zoho CRM doesn't allow for composite items, (understandably), so when items are synced and created in Zoho Inventory, they are always created as an ITEM.  Often we need to convert Items to Composite Items so we can build them, but there is currently no pathway to convert and Item to a Composite Item without going through an ugly process of renaming the item in inventory, manually creating a new composite item and then deactivating the original item from CRM.  It's not clean.

This would be easily resolved if a function was included in Zoho Inventory to "Convert Item to Composite Item".  It could be a one way conversion (i.e. once you convert an item to a composite item, you cannot 'go back' so to speak), but there needs to be an easy mechanism to perform the conversion.  

This issue was raised 2 years ago and Zoho's response was, 'there isn't functionality to do this', but from a usability perspective it must be considered.  It 'should' be a relatively simple update.
