'field name' mapping between Zoho CRM and Accumulus

I am trying to integrate accumulus subscription billing into CRM, First I get contacts, instead of leads created when i add new customers in accumulus, second i do not get a status field brought over. 

there is a place in the accumulus settings that asks for "Zoho status field name" have tried "status" and many forms of including the $(STATUS) convention. I am at a loss on how to integrate this field and it is crucial to Our implementation and workflow rules.

any advice or help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance
