I may have jumped the gun

I am creating a new site and with my minimal experience thought it would be easy enough to jump in and just do it.  I know there are some videos but my speakers aren't working right now, so I thought I would take a chance and ask my questions here.

I am registering the domain name, put my info in along with payment however it's loading still, 20 minutes later.  Is this normal?

While working on the site, I have a header but the one below it, I can't find where and how to change the font size/type and color.

I have gone through some of the forum posts, however I am not sure how to find the replies. 

Help :(  sorry, I know I'm asking a lot and probably very basic things
