Is it possible to remove yourself as a project member?

Is it possible to remove yourself as a project member?

Occasionally other teams will add me to their projects whether or not I want to see those updates. When i got to the users list I am unable to remove myself from that project. Is this an option? The projects are cluttering my viewing dashboard with projects I have no involvement in. I know I can simply ask an admin or project manager to remove me from it however it would be much easier to be able to remove/trashcan yourself from a project than reaching out.
