We would like to submit a feature request to enhance the Zoho People Shift module by adding employee availability management, similar to the functionality available in Zoho Shifts.

Current Limitation

At present, Zoho People does not allow employees to set preferred working hours or unavailability, and managers cannot view or schedule shifts based on employee preferences. This can lead to scheduling conflicts, last-minute changes, and inefficient coverage planning.

Feature Request: Employee Availability

Please add a functionality to allow employees to submit their availability and for managers/admins to view and use it when scheduling shifts.

Key Features:

• Employees can mark:

  • Preferred working hours

  • Unavailable hours

• Employees can set availability for:

  • Partial day or full day

  • Recurring days or weeks

• Managers and admins can:

  • View availability in the scheduling grid

  • Consider availability while assigning shifts

  • Adjust schedules to avoid conflicts with unavailable times

• Optionally, restrict how far in advance availability changes can be submitted to prevent last-minute changes.

Use Case & Value

Adding employee availability would:

• Reduce scheduling conflicts

• Ensure better coverage by aligning shifts with employee preferences

• Improve employee satisfaction by respecting preferred work times

• Make managers’ scheduling process more efficient, particularly for operations and support teams with multiple daily shifts

This enhancement would bring Zoho People’s Shift module closer in capability to Zoho Shifts, improving operational efficiency and workforce satisfaction.
