The New Zoho Forums is here
Welcome to the new Zoho support forums!
We have successfully migrated from the old forums (which was on phpBB). And the new Zoho forums is actually based on a platform currently being developed in Zoho. This platform has been in use within Zoho/AdventNet's intranet for a few months now and it will mature into a full-blown Zoho service soon with a revamped UI & more functionalities. Once it is out, you can use it as part of both your intranets and extranets.
Let's see some interesting new things that's available in the new Zoho forums.
HTML Editor
The first change you will notice when you are about to make a post is the editor. It actually borrows heavily from other Zoho editors and has rich HTML capabilities. Far more functional than what the old forums had.
Viewing Forum Posts & Topics
When you click on a topic, the latest post in the topic comes up. And you can navigate to previous posts in the same topic using the navigational keys found at the top-right of each post. This is a major departure from the earlier forums where clicking on a topic title opened the whole discussion thread as a new page and you went back each time to the forum topics page to read the other topics.
You can click on
to open a particular discussion thread, in case you want to read all the posts in that topic.
User Preferences
The new forums platform allows you to customize it based on how you like to view & work with it. The number of posts to be displayed per page, whether to open a topic as viewable or in the background or in a new browser tab etc can be set.
You can choose your avatar either by uploading a picture or choosing one from the set of readymade avatars offered. You can customize your profile page too and whether you would like to display info like your website, blog, wiki URLs & email address.
Keep a Watch
You can watch particular topics, forums and users who are of interest to you. When you start watching a topic, you will get notified by email whenever a new post is made in that topic. Similarly for forums and users who you are watching too.
RSS
RSS has become an integral part of any web service today and the current Zoho forums are no exception. There are a variety of RSS feeds that you can choose from based on your areas of interest.
Keyboard Shortcuts
You can make use of the keyboard shortcuts provided for better navigation and easy use.
