Hello everyone!
We're back with the latest updates and enhancements we've rolled out in Zoho Invoice from January to March 2026.
Here's what's new this quarter:
- Compact Bilingual Template [GCC Editions]
- Tax Calculation on MRP for Tobacco Products [India Edition]
- Support for New Income Tax Act, 2025 in TDS/TCS [India Edition]
- Contact Person's Custom Fields
- Other Enhancements
Compact Bilingual Template [GCC Editions]
We're excited to introduce the Compact Bilingual template, designed to maximize space efficiency while displaying fields in both languages. The new Compact Bilingual template features a spreadsheet-style layout that can display around 20 line items on a single page alongside your organization logo, invoice details, addresses, and more.
The template presents both the primary and secondary language in a side-by-side format, ensuring bilingual clarity and compliance. It also supports address format editing for organization, billing, and shipping addresses, secondary label field editing.
To use this template:
- Go to Settings > PDF Templates.
- Select the module for which you want to use this template.
- Click + New and hover over Compact Bilingual.
- Click Use This to use the template.
Tax Calculation on MRP for Tobacco Products [India Edition]
Starting February 1, 2026, GST for tobacco and other notified goods must be calculated on the printed MRP, as per Rule 31D of the CGST Rules, 2017. To support this, we've introduced Tax Calculation on MRP in Zoho Invoice.
You can now add MRP to your items and choose whether tax should be calculated on the MRP. This preference is available for items with applicable HSN codes (2401, 2402, 2403, 24041100, 24041900, 21069020). When enabled, tax is always calculated inclusive of the MRP, regardless of the transaction's calculation preference.
Points to Note:
- MRP and the tax calculation preference are auto-picked when adding items to transactions and can be overridden at the line-item level.
- Tax Calculation on MRP label appears below the line item name in PDFs.
- You can enable MRP in the PDF Template settings to clearly show how tax was derived.
- A popup is available to help you update MRP and tax preferences for existing items in bulk.
- Import and Export support for MRP and Tax Calculation on MRP columns is available.
To enable MRP:
- Go to Settings > Items.
- Navigate to the Field Customization tab.
- Click the dropdown next to MRP and click Mark as Active.
Support for New Income Tax Act, 2025 in TDS/TCS [India Edition]
You can now create TDS and TCS rates using the new sections under the new Income Tax Act, 2025. While listing TDS sections, the equivalent old sections are also displayed as "Earlier" for easy reference. For the new act, the start date is set as April 1, 2026, while the old act (Income Tax Act, 1961) has its end date set as March 31, 2026. TDS/TCS Section Code will be displayed under the Amount Withheld field in the template for entity-level TDS.
To create a new TDS rate:
- Go to Settings > Direct Taxes.
- Select Income TDS Rates and click + New TDS Tax.
- Enter the required fields and click Save.
- Similarly, you can create TCS rates.
Contact Person's Custom Fields
You can now create custom fields for Contact Persons to capture information that aligns with your business needs. Contact Person custom fields are displayed in both the Customer and the Contact Persons sections in the customer creation page. They also appear on detail pages, list pages (customer fields only), and can be enabled for the customer portal using the Display in Portal option.
Import, Export, and Audit Trail support is available for Contact Person custom fields, along with integration mapping for Zoho Analytics, Microsoft 365/Outlook, Zoho CRM, and Bigin.
To create a contact person custom field:
- Go to Settings > Customers.
- Navigate to the Field Customization tab.
- Click the + New Custom Field dropdown and select Customers' Contact Person.
- Completed Status for Projects: You can now mark projects as Completed, making it easier to differentiate them from active projects you're currently working on.
- Transaction-level Discount [GCC Editions]: Discounts can now be applied at the transaction level (Discount before tax) in addition to the previously available line-item level.
- Activity Logs in Projects: A dedicated Activity Logs tab is now available in the Projects module, allowing you to track and view project-related activities.
