How do I edit email ID?

How do I edit email ID?

Is it possible to change the "Email ID" field on a mail account? 

I'm only using one account, one user, one email address. Really simple, as I'm just evaluating this solution right now.

I successfully linked to my inbound support email, however I discovered that the "Email ID" setting was incorrect. It's not immediately self evident where this field is used, but it seems that it's used as the Reply-to field for customer responses. Once I figured this out, I realized I needed to change it because what I chose is completely inappropriate.

But it doesn't look like I can actually change it, without completely wiping out my entire account and starting over again. Which I obviously don't want to do. When I try to edit the Mail Server Settings, this is not an editable field. (This makes no sense - assume it's a bug, but I can't find a workaround.)

I tried deleting the mail account and re-creating it - but using the exact same settings (changing only the Email ID field), I get an error message "cannot connect to the email server." ?????? It was connecting fine all along, with the same settings. Something is wrong there.

Is this a bug? Is there some way of getting the mail account reset? Purge the mail account so I can re-create it without the cached mail account interfering with my ability to re-create it? I'm completely stuck here, very close to the walk-away point. Any advice out there would be really appreciated ...
