Hello Zoho People Product Team,
We would like to submit a feature request regarding the shift assignment and management view in Zoho People to provide greater operational flexibility.
Currently, shifts are managed through a layout where the individual is the primary anchor.
Rows: Represent individual employees (e.g., Vignesh TK, Aditi A).
Cells: Display the specific shift name and time assigned to that person (e.g., "General 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM").
Limitation: This view makes it difficult to see at a glance if a specific time block is understaffed, as the data is fragmented across different rows.
We request an alternative view that pivots the data to focus on time-slot occupancy.
First Column: Represents the Time/Hours or specific shift names (e.g., "Morning Shift: 08:00–11:00").
Grid Blocks: Represent the Employees assigned to those specific hours.
Coverage Indicators: Include a "Mapped / Total" ratio (e.g., 2/4) at the top of each day to immediately identify staffing gaps.
Visual Placeholders: Use "Null" or "Unassigned" cards within the time blocks to highlight where headcount is missing.
When clicking on the Null field there will be a dropdown list of the employees that the manager can map to the relevant shift - i.e. not on vacation, id not already at a shift on the same time etc.
A shift-centric view would:
Identify Gaps Instantly: Managers can see if the "Noon Shift" is understaffed without scrolling through every employee row.
Improve Operational Planning: Simplifies scheduling for teams working in rotations or multiple daily shifts.
Balanced Staffing: Clearly shows when too many or too few people are assigned to a specific hour.
This enhancement would significantly improve the usability and efficiency of shift scheduling for support centers and operations teams.
Thank you for considering this request.
Kind regards,
Ram
