Tip #40- Strengthen Remote Support with IP-based Restrictions in Zoho Assist– ‘Insider Insights’

Protecting sensitive data and preventing unauthorized access is a top priority for any organization. With IP-based restrictions in Zoho Assist, you can ensure that only users from trusted networks can initiate remote support sessions.

Say your IT team provides remote support for employees across multiple office locations. Without restrictions, anyone with login details could attempt to connect from outside the company’s network, posing a security risk. With IP-based restrictions enabled, only connections from your company’s office networks (or other approved IPs) are allowed, ensuring remote sessions remain secure and compliant with your policies.

To set it up, visit assist.zoho.com and log in. Navigate to the Settings icon in the top pane. Under Security & Compliance, select IP-based Restriction and click on Manage IP Restriction. You will be redirected to Zoho Directory, where you can add, remove, or modify the IP addresses as needed.

Why are IP based restrictions necessary?

  • For enhanced security, you can restrict access only to trusted IP addresses, significantly lowering the chances of illegal entry, data breaches, or unauthorized access attempts.

  • This feature ensures policy compliance by aligning perfectly with your organization’s established network security protocols, enabling secure usage of Zoho Assist within approved environments only.

  • Administrators gain granular control by configuring specific IP addresses or ranges, making it easier to securely manage distributed teams, external vendors, and remote contractors worldwide.

  • By limiting Zoho Assist access to approved networks, you effectively reduce cyber risks, preventing hijacked sessions, malicious exploits, and unauthorized users from threatening your remote support system.

With IP-based access control, Zoho Assist empowers your organization to deliver secure, compliant, and reliable remote support. Try it out and let us know how it’s helping your team!
