UK MTD -- do we really need to map accounts every time we finalise a quarterly report?

I've been using Books for years as a sole trader in the UK and been very happy with it overall. I was expecting that their implementation of features for MTD was going to be seamless and helpful. Unfortunately, it seems very bare bones and unclear. This is a whole new way to filing for a lot of us -- please work harder to make the transition accessible and easy.
I have been testing the system today and mapped all my accounts to the Zoho categories. Why can't we have some flexibility or guidance around this? My categories are different, but I now have to figure out how to make them fit Zoho's framework. I took me some time and effort, but with some ChatGPT assistance, I did it. However, I then looked at another quarterly report and was dismayed to see that account hadn't been mapped there.
Are you really saying that we have to map accounts each quarter?
