Allow Variable Insertion in Prebuilt "Update Record" Action in Schedules

Hi Zoho Creator Team,

Hope you're doing well.

We’d like to submit a feature request based on our experience using Zoho Creator schedules to manage workflows integrated with Zoho Desk.

We currently have an app where Zoho Desk tickets create records in Zoho Creator. One of the fields in the record is the Reminder Time, which is used in a schedule to update the Zoho Desk ticket status.

To improve logging and tracking, we recently added an "Execution Time" field to record the exact time the schedule ran. While we were able to achieve this using a custom function with zoho.currenttime, we’d like to propose an enhancement to make this process easier.

Feature Request:

Please allow the use of variables like zoho.currenttime directly in the prebuilt "Update Record" action in a Schedule and not just to choose from the calendar:

This would make it possible to set dynamic values (like the time the schedule actually executes) without needing to write a separate custom function.

This will:

  • Improve user experience by reducing the need to use custom Deluge scripts for simple tasks.

  • Simplify workflows for users who are not developers.

  • Align with how dynamic variables are supported in other areas of Zoho Creator.

Thanks again for your continued support and the great product.

Best regards,
Ram
