How to migrate from Zoho CRM API v1 to v2- Guidelines

Hi Everyone,

We've noticed a surge in discussions and questions to our support that concern APIs and migrating from the soon-to-be obsolete version to the latest. Those of you who have already got this covered, great! This post is for the uninitiated and helps identify whether your account has an active API usage and if you have to migrate to the latest version.

I'm sure many of you must have come across one of these banners in your CRM. As this is an important update, If you are not the CRM administrator, make sure you keep your administrator informed about this.

APIs are used to integrate CRM with third-party applications such as accounting, ERP, e-commerce, self-service portals, and others.(Example: Skype for business, Shopify etc;). API v2 offers lot more enhancements, more on that here. Kindly note that you will have to make the transition to the new version before the cut off date (31 December 2019).

How to identify if you are still using old APIs:

To help you identify the old API usage during the last 30 days, we have segmented the API calls into "Old" and "New".

Go to: Settings--->Setup--->Developer Space--->APIs

Choose 'Old APIs' from the drop down. If you find any old API calls listed here, then you will have to migrate to the new API. In the access point section the IP addresses from which the API calls were triggered will be displayed using which you can extract the user details.

To find and manage all the active authtokens above 30 days, login to:

accounts.zoho.com--->Sessions--->Active Authtokens

You can find the list of all API v1 authtokens and for more details click on the respective active authtoken.

Identifying the Functions that use API V1:

In order to know which functions use v1 API, we have added a "Deprecated" tag next to the function name.

Go to: Settings--->Setup--->Developer Space--->Functions

You also have the option to download the list of functions that use API v1. Check the screenshot below.

How to migrate to API V2:

If you had configured these functions/integrations on your own, then use the migration help guide to update to v2.

If a developer/consultant had helped set up functions/integrations, do check with them to make the required changes.

If you are still on API v1 and unsure how to proceed further, do not hesitate to reach out to one of our partners. Find the list of Zoho partners here.

What if I built my integration using third party service like Zapier?

The native integration between Zoho applications are not affected. However, if you have configured any integration with the third party service, the data will not sync after the cut off date if it is on API v1. This will not impact the existing data.
