Add "Reset MFA" Option for Zoho Creator Client Portal Users

Add "Reset MFA" Option for Zoho Creator Client Portal Users

Hello Zoho Creator Team,

We hope you are doing well.

We would like to request an important enhancement related to Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for client portal users in Zoho Creator.

Currently, Creator allows us to enforce MFA for portal users, which is an excellent security feature and works very well. However, there is a significant limitation once MFA is enabled:

If a portal user loses access to their authenticator app (for example: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.) and also does not have backup codes, there is no option for us as administrators to reset their MFA configuration. At the moment, such users are completely locked out of the portal with no recovery path.

In Zoho One Admin Console, we already have a Reset MFA option for employees, which is extremely useful. We request that the same option be added for Zoho Creator portal users.

✅ Requested Enhancement

Please add a “Reset MFA” action in the Portal Users section of Zoho Creator that will:

  • Allow admins to reset MFA for a specific portal user.

  • Force the user to reconfigure MFA on next login.

  • Restore access without needing to delete and recreate the user account.

✅ Why This Is Important

  • Prevents legitimate users from being permanently locked out.
  • Eliminates the need for risky or manual workarounds (like deleting and re-adding users).
  • Aligns Creator’s portal security control with Zoho One Admin capabilities.
  • Maintains a secure MFA requirement without sacrificing usability.

Thank you for considering this enhancement. It will greatly improve account recovery and security administration for all organizations using Creator portals.

Best regards,
Ram
