Zoho Payroll: Product Updates - August 2025

This month’s updates to Zoho Payroll bring enhanced efficiency and smarter features, simplifying payroll management for users in India, UAE, KSA, and US. Read on to explore how these updates can streamline your workflow.

Filter Pay Runs by Type (India, UAE, KSA)

On the Pay Runs page, you may have multiple pay runs of different types listed together. You can now filter pay runs by their type, such as Regular Payrolls, Bulk Final Settlement Payrolls, Off-Cycle Payrolls, and more. This makes it quick and easy to locate the specific payroll you are looking for.

How to Filter Pay Runs by Type
  • Go to the Pay Runs module.
  • Select the desired filter at the top of the page.
The list will instantly update to show only pay runs matching the selected type.

Customize Resettlement Payslips (India, UAE, KSA)

When you process a resettlement pay run for exited employees who were not compensated at the time of exit, Zoho Payroll sends a Resettlement Payslip to their email address.

You can now customize these Resettlement Payslips sent to exited employees. Customization options include:
  • Displaying your organization logo
  • Choosing to hide or show specific resettlement details
  • Customizing the declaration form content as needed
This allows you to ensure the payslip matches your organization’s branding and includes only the details you want to share.

How to Customize
  • Go to Settings > PDF Templates > Resettlement Payslip.
  • Click the Edit icon.
  • Make your changes and save the template.
Once updated, all future Resettlement Payslips sent to exited employees will follow your customized format.


Process Payroll by Entering Only Time Off Hours (US)

You can now process Regular or Off-Cycle payroll for an employee by simply entering the hours taken as time off, whether it is sick leave or vacation leave, without having to add earning details for the employee.

Note: This feature is available only in the latest version of Zoho Payroll US.

Enable or Disable Employee Portal for Multiple Employees (US)

You can now enable or disable the Employee Portal for multiple employees at once. Previously, this had to be done individually for each employee.

With this update, you can select multiple employees and change their portal access in a single action.

How to Enable or Disable for Multiple Employees
  • Go to the Employees module.
  • Select one or more employees.
  • Choose Enable or Disable.
Once done, the selected employees will immediately have their portal access updated.


Terminate Employees in the Same Month After Regular Payroll Completion (US)

You can now mark an employee as terminated even if they were already included in the regular payroll for that month. For example, if you have completed processing the regular payroll for June 2025 and later need to terminate an employee who was part of that payroll, you can now do so without having to undo or adjust the payroll.

Note: If an employee was skipped in your last regular payroll, you will not be able to mark them as terminated.

Email Notifications for Employee-Level IT Declaration & POI Actions (India)

Previously, employees were notified by email only when IT Declaration or Proof of Investment (POI) was released or locked at the organization level in Settings > Claims and Declarations > IT Declaration / POI.

If these actions were performed at the employee level (for one or multiple employees), no email was sent.

Now, whenever you release or lock IT Declaration or POI for one or more employees, each selected employee will automatically receive an email notification stating:
  • That their IT Declaration or POI can now be submitted (in case of release), or
  • That it has been locked for submission (in case of lock).

Note: This feature is currently in early access. Contact support@zohopayroll.com and we'll enable this feature for your organisation.

How to Lock or Release at Employee Level
  • Go to the Employees module.
  • Select one or more employees.
  • Click Release IT Declaration / Proof of Investments or Lock IT Declaration / Proof of Investments, as required.
Once you complete these steps, the selected employees will receive the notification email.
