Evergreen email sequences in Zoho Campaigns

Dear Zoho Campaigns Team,

I’d like to propose a new feature for Zoho Campaigns called Evergreen Email Sequences, building upon the existing Autoresponders functionality. This addition would empower email marketers to create and manage long-term, sustainable email campaigns with greater ease and efficiency.

The Opportunity:
Evergreen Email Sequences are a valuable tool used by many email marketers to maximise the ROI of their time and content. Unlike one-off campaigns that end after being sent, or workflows that can become unwieldy over time, Evergreen Email Sequences allow users to:

  1. Continuously Add to a Linear Sequence
    Create an ongoing series of non-time-sensitive, valuable emails that new subscribers can join at any time. Over months and years, the sequence grows into a repository of rich, timeless content, delivering ongoing value to new subscribers without additional manual effort.

  2. Maintain Subscriber Engagement Beyond Workflow Limits
    With workflows, subscribers often drop out once they reach the end. In contrast, Evergreen Email Sequences ensure recipients continue to receive newly added emails indefinitely.

  3. Simplify Campaign Management
    Workflows in the current Workflow Canvas can quickly become overwhelming, especially for email sequences with more than 20 emails. Adding "Wait" actions between each email creates a cluttered flowchart that is difficult to navigate and edit.

  4. Minimise Redundancy
    Evergreen Email Sequences eliminate the need to clone and resend campaigns, enabling a more seamless and professional user experience.

The Current Challenges:

  • Workflow Complexity: While workflows technically allow for long email sequences, the visual complexity of the Workflow Canvas makes them impractical for large-scale, evolving campaigns.
  • Autoresponder Limitations: Autoresponders are simpler and more linear, but their send times are based on the initial trigger rather than the time the last email was sent. This makes them unsuitable for true Evergreen Email Sequences.

The Proposed Solution:
Enhance the Autoresponders module or create a new module that:

  • Functions like Autoresponders but calculates send times relative to when the previous email was sent, rather than the initial trigger.
  • Allows users to add new emails to the sequence at any time without disrupting the flow for existing subscribers.
  • Includes a streamlined, user-friendly interface for managing sequences, designed to handle large numbers of emails efficiently... Autoresponders UI layout is already perfect for this!

Why This Matters:
Evergreen Email Sequences are already a key feature in several competing email marketing platforms. Without this capability, some of my clients and I have had to rely on other email marketing tools to meet this specific need, even though we prefer Zoho’s ecosystem for its other strengths. Adding this feature would not only retain current Zoho users but also attract new ones looking for this functionality. As an example, I'm a member of a business development group containing over 120 business owners and Evergreen Email Sequences are at the core for the group's marketing philosophy. I know these members would be interested Zoho Campaigns if this was a well implemented feature of the tool.
