Hello everyone,
We're writing to inform you of an important change regarding Salesforce integrations in Zoho Creator.
Salesforce has introduced
new security requirements for third-party platforms that connect with their services via APIs. To comply with these requirements, Zoho Creator will be making changes to how Salesforce integrations are authenticated.
As a result, all existing Salesforce connections will no longer be supported and may stop working soon. Users will need to replace them with the new version of the Salesforce connector.
Going forward, new Salesforce connections can only be created using either BYOC (bring your own credentials) or a custom connector, as the Quick Connect mode (which relied on Zoho-managed OAuth credentials shared across customers) will no longer be available.
We want to ensure this transition is as smooth as possible, so please read through this post carefully to understand what's changing and what you need to do.
What's changing?
Due to Salesforce's new security requirements, Zoho-managed OAuth credentials can no longer be used to establish Salesforce integrations. Due to this, all existing connections will be affected and subsequently stop working.
As a result, all workflows, Deluge tasks, integration fields, integration forms, and other configurations that reference your existing Salesforce connections will stop working.
What do I need to do?
To ensure your Salesforce integrations continue to work without interruption, you will need to set up a new Salesforce connection at the earliest. There are two recommended approaches:
Option 1: Use BYOC (bring your own credentials)
With BYOC, you can authenticate your Salesforce connection using OAuth credentials that you create and manage in your own Salesforce account. This gives you full control over your integration and ensures it's not impacted by restrictions on platform-managed credentials.
To get started, navigate to Microservices -> Connections and create a new Salesforce connection. Custom (Your credential) is now the default and only available connection mode for Salesforce. Provide your Salesforce OAuth Client ID and Client Secret to complete the setup. Once the new connection is created, make sure to update all references to the existing Salesforce connection across your workflows, Deluge tasks, and any other instances where it's used.
Option 2: Use a custom connector
Alternatively, you can integrate with Salesforce using a custom connector, which gives you full flexibility over the authentication method and the specific Salesforce APIs you want to interact with.
Who's affected?
This change affects all Zoho Creator users who have configured Salesforce integrations.
Timeline
Salesforce has introduced these security requirements with immediate effect. As Salesforce controls the enforcement of these requirements, existing Salesforce connections may stop functioning at any time. We therefore strongly recommend migrating your existing Salesforce connections as soon as possible to avoid any disruption to your workflows and business operations.
Why is this happening?
This change is required to comply with Salesforce's updated security requirements for third-party integrations. It's not a change specific to Zoho Creator—it's one mandated by Salesforce's authentication policy. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate this together.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the migration, please reach out to our support team. We'll be happy to help you through the transition.
Regards,
The Zoho Creator Team
