Multi-Option Estimates: One Estimate, Multiple Choices

Multi-Option Estimates: One Estimate, Multiple Choices

Every service request can have multiple solutions. Multi-Option Estimates help you present these different solutions in a single estimate with its own name, parts, price, and total. Each option can differ in scope, approach, or price — whatever choices the job allows. Customers see them side by side, compare, and approve the one they want. They get the clarity to decide for themselves, and you get to show your premium offerings without making a pitch.

Why multi-option estimates?

Sending one option costs you more than you'd think. The customer asks what an alternative would cost, you send another estimate, and days go by. A price on its own is just a number — next to two others, it becomes a decision. And the customers who would have paid more for a better fix never learn the option existed. Giving them the whole picture helps them decide faster.

Building the options

Building options into an estimate is simple. Open the estimate, go to the Services and parts tab, and choose Add Options. Name the option — something the customer will understand, like "Repair only" or "Full replacement, 10-year warranty" — then add the service and part line items that make up that option and save. Repeat for each option you want to offer, up to five.

Let the customer compare and choose

When you email the estimate, the customer receives all the options together, with the details of each laid out for comparison. They accept one option and reject the others, right from the email — no phone call, no reply-and-wait, no asking you to resend a revised quote. The decision moves from "yes or no to this price" to "which of these fits me best."

Build estimates at the job site

Estimates do not have to be built at your desk. The mobile app supports multi-option estimates, which means a technician can quote multiple options while at site — when the diagnosis is fresh and the customer is right there. A technician who can say "here are three ways we can handle this, have a look" before leaving the driveway closes work that a follow-up email never would.
