Hello everyone,
Configuration of Unsubscribe Link has been revamped. Below are the list of changes that you will notice:
Entering return URL
Earlier you had to give the return URL in the configuration page. Now you can create unsubscribe URLs and maintain a list of the same.
Creating the unsubscribe link
During creation of unsubscribe link, you have to enter:
1. Location URL: The web page URL where the unsubscribe link will be hosted. You can choose a standard page designed by Zoho CRM, that will display the information and the link to unsubscribe as a location URL. Alternatively, you can host the unsubscribe link on your company's web page. If you select this option, you must generate a code and paste it on your web page to display the unsubscribe link.
2. Action on unsubscribe: Once the customer unsubscribes, you can choose one of the following actions:
- Redirect the visitor to a web page. In this case, you must copy the generated code and paste it in that web page.
- Show a success message as shown in the image below. This cannot be customized.
3. Generating code: When a custom page is used for location URL or action upon unsubscribe, then a code needs to be generated and pasted in the respective web page.
Places where unsubscribe link can be used
- Email templates: The link will be available in the templates and can be embedded directly in the email body. Useful while sending bulk emails.
- Direct emails: The unsubscribe link can be embedded in an email while composing.
Different modes of unsubscribing
We are providing four ways of unsubscribe:
- Through Unsubscribe Link - The customer can click on the unsubscribe link in an email that is sent to him.
- Manual Unsubscribe - When the customer requests for unsubscribe in person then the email optout field will be manually checked. This mode of unsubscribe is called as manual.
- Through Consent form - If the customer does not choose one of the modes for communication as Emails, then the email opt-out field will be selected for his record. This mode of unsubscribe is called as consent link.
- Through Zoho campaigns - If the customer unsubscribes through an email sent via Zoho Campaigns, then the mode of unsubscribe is called as Zoho Campaign.
Note that the above changes will not impact the existing unsubscribe links, except these links will not be listed under the list of unsubscribed links.
Refer to the help doc for details on viewing modes of unsubscribe and how records are unsubscribed.
