Did you know you can define a time logging window for your team with Zoho Projects?
In a project, users often log time at different points of the day depending on their scope of work. Those who switch between onsite tasks and their desk work might not be able to log time on the spot and often reach for the devices by the end of the day to update tasks. Entries that are meant to be logged by the end of the day might get postponed which delays project delivery.
After an invoice is generated, if a user updates an existing time log, the invoiced amount would not match the recorded hours, complicating audits. To avoid this, administrators can configure the
Time Log Period Settings and define how far back or forward users can log time. Depending on the organization's compliance requirements, they can restrict backdated entries and future time logging.
Let's consider an aerospace manufacturer working under government contracts. With engineers spending most of their day on the assembly floor, they return to the desk by the end of their shift to update task records and timesheets. Since the organization must comply with DCAA requirements, time must be logged daily for specific projects.
When an engineer forgets to log time for the previous day, and attempts to log it, an alert is displayed while restricting the entry. This ensures billing accuracy and helps the organisation stay compliant.
Logging Future Time can similarly be restricted to prevent entries from being logged before the work is actually done.
Set a
daily reminder for 15 minutes before business hours end to give users a heads up to log their time before they log out for the day.
Here is a quick walkthrough on setting this up.
