Did you know that you can configure dependent fields in Task and Issue Layouts?
In a project, tasks and issues vary in nature and so do the fields needed for each. Displaying relevant fields and values keeps the layout organised and ensures necessary details are captured accurately. With
Layout Rules in Zoho Projects, you can tailor field visibility, allowing the layout to display only the essential fields that each work item requires.
Dependent Rules establish a link between two picklist fields, ensuring values available in the secondary field depend on the value selected in the primary field. By default, a picklist displays all the values available regardless of the context, this rule enables dynamic filtering bringing up values relevant to the selection made. This helps reduce clutter and ensures that users can make accurate selections even in haste.
Let's consider an insurance provider managing Vehicle, Health, and Property Claims. The claim type and fields required differ based on the type of insurance being processed. When an executive works on a Vehicle Insurance claim, they might only look for specific options from the Claim Type dropdown rather than scrolling through the entire list.
When a Dependent Layout Rule is set up, the user links the Insurance Type to preferred values in the Claim Type picklist. When the executive selects Vehicle Insurance, the Claim Type field dynamically brings up options such as, Accident and Flood Damage, enabling the user to make the selection relevant to the Claim Type.
The dependent field can display a curated set of values or all values from the dependent picklist, based on the configuration.
