Dear Zoho Sign users,
If your Zoho Sign account is hosted in our Saudi Arabia data centre, here's an important update on digital signature certificates in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
What's changing
Going forward, the "Sign via Zoho Sign" option will now use alternative digital certificates through GlobalSign, our globally trusted certificate partner, instead of one issued by a Saudi Trust Service Provider.
What this means for existing users
Going forward, you will have three options:
- Sign via Zoho Sign — This option does not use a digital certificate from a Saudi Trust Service Provider, but it still meets all digital signature platform best practices. It is well-suited for internal documents and lower-value agreements that typically do not go to court for disputes.
- Sign with emdha — This integration already exists in Zoho Sign and allows users to sign via a personal certificate generated by emdha through Nafath authentication. This option remains available and is strongly recommended for high-value transactions or deals that require the highest level of legal assurance. Please note that this change does not impact users who sign documents through the emdha integration via Nafath authentication — that process remains unchanged. Learn more about this integration.
Sign with emdha eSeal (work in progress) — This option will seal the document using a shared platform signing certificate issued to the Zoho Sign platform by a Saudi Trust Service Provider.
For Trial and Free Zoho Sign users
If you're exploring Zoho Sign on a Trial or Free plan, you can continue to experience our electronic signing capabilities through GlobalSign, our globally trusted certificate partner. Please note that GlobalSign certificates are best suited for standard business agreements and may not meet the compliance requirements for high-value transactions before Saudi courts. For those high-value business transactions, we recommend upgrading to a paid plan with the emdha integration.
Our commitment
This update reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering the seamless, secure signing experience you rely on. We've worked closely with emdha to ensure this transition is as smooth as possible, and our team is here to support you every step of the way.
