Let’s Talk Recruit: Inside LinkedIn RSC and RSC+

Welcome back to Let's Talk Recruit, where we go beyond the feature announcement and get into the details that actually change how your hiring team works day to day.

Earlier this year, we shared the LinkedIn Cheatsheet, which covered how job posting and application capture work across our LinkedIn integrations. If you have not read it yet, it is a good place to start.

This post picks up where that one left off. LinkedIn Recruiter System Connect is now live in Zoho Recruit, and RSC+ is available for teams with LinkedIn Hiring Assistant. If you want the full feature walkthrough, the release post covers everything in detail.

Want the quick version? Watch this video to get up to speed on LinkedIn RSC+ before you continue reading.

What this post covers is everything around the integration. The things to know before you activate, the differences between RSC and RSC+, and the questions that have been coming up most from the community.

LinkedIn RSC and RSC+: what's actually different between the two

There are two versions of the integration, and knowing which one applies to your organization matters before you begin setup.

RSC is the standard version. It gives your team bidirectional sync between Zoho Recruit and LinkedIn Recruiter covering job openings, hiring pipeline stages, candidates, candidate notes, applications, resumes, and interview feedback. On top of that, you get 1-click export from LinkedIn into Recruit, the LinkedIn profile widget inside candidate records, InMail history on candidate records, and the In-ATS indicator on LinkedIn Recruiter profiles.

RSC+ is the upgraded version. It includes everything in RSC and adds two features that are not available otherwise: Connected Projects and Hiring Assistant Evaluations pulled directly into the Reviews module in Zoho Recruit.

The important thing to know is that you do not upgrade from RSC to RSC+ manually. If your organization has LinkedIn Hiring Assistant active on your account, RSC+ features turn on automatically with no additional setup in Recruit needed. If you add Hiring Assistant later, the same applies.

What to know before you activate

A few things about RSC work differently from what you might expect. Here is a quick look at the common assumptions and what is actually true.

What you might expect
What actually happens
Having LinkedIn Recruiter Corporate is enough to activate RSC
RSC also needs to be explicitly enabled on your LinkedIn contract. If you have never discussed this with your LinkedIn account manager, it is likely not on your contract yet.
All candidate details come through when you export someone
Only a stub profile is synced by default. Full contact details like email and phone are added automatically only after the candidate consents via InMail.
Candidates are imported into Recruit automatically
Recruiters need to manually export candidates using 1-click export. The one exception is InMail contact, which creates a stub profile in Recruit automatically.
Candidate records stay updated as their LinkedIn profile changes
Profile data reflects what was available at the time of export or InMail contact. Records are not enriched automatically after that.
RSC posts jobs to your LinkedIn Company Page
RSC syncs job openings to LinkedIn Recruiter only. Posting to your Company Page is a separate integration covered in the LinkedIn Cheatsheet.
Changes in Recruit appear on LinkedIn instantly
Changes are queued immediately but processed in 15-minute windows. Most updates appear on LinkedIn within 15 to 20 minutes.
Disabling RSC removes your data from LinkedIn
Disabling is a soft pause. Data already synced to LinkedIn stays there. Contact support@zohorecruit.com if you need it removed.
Deleting a record in Recruit only affects Recruit
Deletions cascade. Removing a candidate or application in Recruit also removes their associated notes, resumes, pipeline stages, and interview feedback from LinkedIn.
Seatholder mapping takes care of itself
Recruit matches seat holders by email address. If emails differ between LinkedIn and Recruit, the user shows as Not Matched and their data will not sync until it is fixed manually.
Sync history is always available for auditing
RSC Reports logs are deleted automatically after six months. Review them before that window closes if you need a record of past sync activity.
The LinkedIn profile widget works on all browsers
The widget does not load on Safari. Switch to Chrome or Firefox.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Who can use RSC and RSC+, and on which plans?

RSC is available on LinkedIn Recruiter Corporate and RPS licenses only. Recruiter Lite does not qualify and there is no workaround for this. On the Zoho Recruit side, RSC+ is available on paid plans and is not accessible on free or trial accounts. Only Organization Admins can activate and configure the integration from Setup.

There is no requirement for every recruiter in your organization to have a LinkedIn Recruiter seat. Only the users who actively source on LinkedIn Recruiter need to be seat holders. Everyone else can continue working in Zoho Recruit as usual.

We have LinkedIn Recruiter Corporate but RSC was not part of our original contract. What do we do?

RSC is not automatically included in all LinkedIn Recruiter Corporate contracts. Contact your LinkedIn account manager and ask them to enable RSC on your contract. It is a common request and a straightforward amendment on LinkedIn's side. Once it is enabled, an Organization Admin in Zoho Recruit can complete the activation from Setup.

How does the first sync work and how long does it take?

When you click Initiate Sync during activation, Zoho Recruit sends all your existing data to LinkedIn in the following order:

Job openings, hiring pipeline stages, candidates, candidate notes, applications, application stages, application notes, application resumes, candidate resumes, and interview feedback

The sync runs in the background so you can keep working in Recruit while it processes.

How long it takes depends on how much historical data you have. When it finishes, you will receive a Sync Completion email showing how many records succeeded and how many failed, along with a direct link to the RSC Reports subtab where you can investigate and resync failures in bulk.

A recruiter's In-ATS indicator is not appearing, and the LinkedIn profile widget is not loading for some team members. What should we check?

Both of these issues are most commonly caused by an incomplete seatholder mapping. During activation, Zoho Recruit matches LinkedIn Recruiter seat holders to Recruit users by email address. If a recruiter's email in LinkedIn differs from their email in Zoho Recruit, they will appear as Not Matched and their data will not flow through.

Go to Setup > Marketplace > LinkedIn > LinkedIn Recruiter System Connect, and click Configure to check and resolve their mapping status.

For the profile widget specifically, also confirm that the recruiter is not using Safari. The widget does not load on Safari and this is a LinkedIn-side limitation. Chrome and Firefox work correctly.

One additional rule to keep in mind: each LinkedIn Recruiter seat can only be connected to one Recruit user, and each Recruit user to one LinkedIn seat. There are no exceptions to this. When a recruiter leaves the organization, clear their mapping from the Configure screen. Their historical InMail data stored on candidate records in Recruit will remain intact. You can then map that LinkedIn seat to the new recruiter joining the team.

How does 1-click export handle duplicate candidates in Zoho Recruit?

Matching is based on email address by default. If a candidate already exists in Recruit and their record has been synced to LinkedIn and matched with a LinkedIn profile, re-exporting them will update the existing candidate record rather than create a new one.

How do LinkedIn Hiring Assistant evaluations appear in Recruit, and how is the rating calculated?

Evaluations from LinkedIn Hiring Assistant are associated with the respective candidate record in Zoho Recruit under the Ratings and Reviews section. LinkedIn Hiring Assistant evaluates each candidate against the fit criteria defined for the linked job and assigns an outcome based on how many of those criteria the candidate meets. The outcome is displayed as a star rating in Zoho Recruit.
  1. 5 stars: Top fit
  2. 3 stars: Might be a fit
  3. 1 star: Might not be a fit
The star rating is determined by the proportion of fit criteria the candidate meets. The more criteria a candidate satisfies, the higher their rating.

These ratings are read-only and cannot be edited or deleted from within Zoho Recruit.

What are purged candidate notifications and what should we do when we receive one?

Every 30 days, RSC checks LinkedIn for candidates who have removed their data from LinkedIn's ATS sharing system. If any are found, Zoho Recruit sends your Organization Admin an email listing the affected candidates along with links to their candidate records in Recruit.

Nothing is deleted automatically. It is a notification for your admin to review and decide on next steps. This check only begins running after your first 1-click export has taken place.

Let's Talk!

RSC is one of those integrations where the value tends to show itself in small moments that add up quickly — the first time a recruiter notices the In-ATS badge before drafting an InMail, or the first time a new team member can see the full history of a candidate just from opening their record in Recruit.

A few things we'd love to hear from you in the comments:
  1. Have you activated RSC or RSC+? What's changed about how your team sources or manages candidates in Recruit?
  2. If you're still evaluating, what's the biggest question holding you back?
  3. Have you run into any of the setup hurdles mentioned above? How did you work through it?
Drop your questions and experiences below. If there's something you'd like us to cover in a follow-up edition of Let's Talk Recruit, let us know that too.
