Hello everyone,
Protecting live data is crucial for any organization or product, as it contains sensitive customer information. However, protecting data does not end within the platform. Backup and export files often contain sensitive information and it requires encryption to maintain confidentiality.
To ensure that data remains protected even after it is backed up or exported, password encryption is facilitated. This adds an additional layer of security to backup and export files, ensuring that only authorized users can access the information. The encrypted files reduce the risk of unauthorized access and potential data breaches.
Criteria for password
While exporting data or creating a backup, the file can be encrypted with a password by meeting the following criteria:
- Minimum 8 characters
- At least one uppercase character
- At least one lowercase character
- Numbers (0-9)
- Special characters (!@#$%^&*)
To protect the backup data with password, navigate to Setup > Data Administration > Data Backup and enable the Encrypt with Password option.
To protect the export data with password, navigate to Setup > Data Administration > Export > New Export and enable the Encrypt with Password option.
Note:
For security reasons, only the user who created the password can access and view the password entry on the Export or Backup homepage.
