Manage passphrase in OneAuth

Manage passphrase

Passphrase

A passphrase is a unique phrase similar to a password used to encrypt the 2FA secrets for your accounts before they are stored in the Zoho cloud. You must enter the passphrase to restore your 2FA accounts on a new device. Make sure to remember it, as you cannot restore your 2FA accounts without your passphrase.
You can also use the same passphrase to recover your OneAuth account if you lose access to it.
Info
Zoho stores only the encrypted data, not the passphrase. If you forgot your passphrase, you won't be able to restore your backed-up 2FA accounts.
To back up your 2FA accounts, you must set up a passphrase.

Setup passphrase

  1. Open the OneAuth app.
  2. Go to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Recover Account (2FA & OneAuth), then tap Set up.
  4. Enter the passphrase, then re-enter it to confirm. The passphrase must contain at least 8 characters.
  5. Read and acknowledge the checkbox to continue.
  6. Tap Set Passphrase.

Change or reset passphrase

Important note before changing or resetting the Passphrase
When you change or reset your passphrase,
  1. The 2FA accounts on your current device will remain safe and will be backed up to Zoho cloud using your new passphrase, replacing the previously backed up 2FA accounts.
  2. On your other devices, if any 2FA accounts haven't been synced, you will be prompted to back them up using the new passphrase or remove them.
Info
Make sure to change or reset the passphrase on the device that contains all your required 2FA accounts.
