Zoho Connect MCP Integration
Overview

Zoho Connect MCP allows you to connect your Zoho Connect network with AI-powered applications using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). How Zoho Connect MCP works
Model Context Protocol (MCP) acts as a secure bridge between your AI client and Zoho Connect.
When a user asks a question in an MCP-compatible AI client:
- The AI client sends the request to the MCP server.
- The MCP server identifies the appropriate Zoho Connect tools required to answer the request.
- Zoho Connect retrieves only the information permitted by the configured access scope.
- The retrieved content is returned to the AI client as contextual data.
- The AI generates a response using the latest information available from your Connect network.
This allows AI assistants to answer questions using information that already exists within your organization instead of relying only on their built-in knowledge.

How to configure Zoho Connect MCP
- Log in to your Zoho account and open the Zoho MCP console (https://mcp.zoho.com/mcp-client#/mcp-client/server).
- In your MCP dashboard, click Create MCP server.
- In the pop-up, enter a Server Name.
- Click Create.
This MCP server will act as a bridge between Zoho Connect and your AI client. Once the server is created, you can add Zoho Connect as a tool.
Adding Zoho Connect as a Tool
- Open the MCP server you created.
- Click Add Tools.
- Search and select Zoho Connect from the available integrations.
Once added, MCP automatically discovers the supported Zoho Connect capabilities available for your account. The next step is to configure which Connect resources the MCP server can access.
Configuring Access Scopes
Choose which Zoho Connect resources the MCP server can access.
Depending on your permissions, you can provide access to:
- Network
- Feeds
- Forums
- Groups
- Manuals
- Tasks & Boards
- User
- Events
The selected scope determines what information the AI client can access during conversations.
For example:
- If access is limited to announcements, the AI can answer questions related only to announcements.
- If access includes discussions and manuals, the AI can retrieve information from both sources to provide more comprehensive responses.
This ensures that only approved organizational content is available through MCP.
All about permissions
Zoho Connect MCP respects existing Zoho Connect permissions.
The MCP server cannot access content that the authenticated user is not authorized to view.
This means:
- Private groups remain private.
- Restricted discussions remain restricted.
- Role-based access controls continue to apply.
- Users only receive information from resources they are permitted to access.
This helps maintain organizational security while enabling AI-powered access to information.
After configuring the access scope, Zoho MCP generates the connection details required by MCP-compatible clients.
Generating MCP endpoint configuration
The generated configuration includes:
- MCP server endpoint URL
- Authentication credentials
- Tool metadata
- Connection information
These details allow the AI client to securely communicate with the MCP server and access approved Zoho Connect resources.
Then, you should Add the generated MCP configuration to your MCP-compatible AI client.
For example:
- Open your AI client's MCP configuration settings.
- Add the MCP server endpoint and authentication details generated by Zoho MCP.
- Save the configuration.
- Restart the AI client.
Once the connection is established, the AI client can securely access Zoho Connect resources through the MCP server.
