Configuring and managing app menu

Learn how you can configure the app menu to display your application's components in an organized fashion. Make sure you have a comprehensive understanding of the app menu before you move ahead.

4. Configure the app menu

To configure the app menu
  1. Navigate to the edit mode of your application.

  2. Select the preferred device icon (web, phone, tablet) in the top-left corner to configure the app menu for that device.
  3. InfoThe app menu can be customized individually for different devices, allowing you to design specific menus for each device.

  4. Click the app menu Icon in the top-right corner to access the app menu builder.

By default, components in your application will be arranged automatically. When a component is removed from a space, it will be listed under the Components section in the left pane of the app menu builder. You can customize your app menu by dragging and dropping the applications components and elements into the app menu space as shown.

Notes: 
  1. Spaces and Sections will not be visible to users if they do not contain any application components.
  2. System Components will only be visible after their configurations have been completed by admins or developers, allowing users to access them from the app menu in the live mode of the application. For example, the Language Configuration component, which allows users to change the user interface language, will only be visible if the admin or developer has configured the localization by adding languages and setting the application language options for users to select.

5. Manage app menu

Managing the app menu offers the following abilities:
  1. Create space
  2. Edit icons
  3. Rename space, section, or component
  4. Delete space or element
  5. Remove components in a space

5.1. Create space

  1. Navigate to the app menu builder in the edit mode of the application.
  2. Click Add New Space.

    If you have already created a new space, click add icon () between the space to insert a new space in the preferred location.
  3. NotesNote: Up to three empty spaces can be added in an application.
  4. Arrange the components and elements in the space.

5.2. Edit icons

  1. Navigate to the app menu Builder in the edit mode of the application.
  2. Click Icon Settings and check the preferred checkboxes to show icons for the Menu, Sub menu, and Spaces. You can also choose your preferred icon style, either solid or outline.

    When a checkbox is selected, random icons will be automatically assigned to the corresponding components by default.

  3. To change an icon, click on the icon next to the space, menu, or sub-menu and select the preferred icon from the pop-up to update.

5.3. Rename space, section, or component

  1. Navigate to the app menu Builder in the edit mode of the application.
  2. Hover over the preferred space, component, or section and click the rename icon () to rename directly from the builder.

  3. In case of renaming a component, a pop-up will appear, allowing you to change the display name and link name.

  4. After making the changes, click Save to update.

5.4. Delete space or element

  1. Navigate to the app menu builder in the edit mode of the application.
  2. Hover over the preferred space or element and click the delete icon () to delete directly from the builder.
  3. NotesNote: When you delete a space or section, the components within them will be removed and listed back in the Components section on the left pane of the builder. 

5.5. Remove component in a space

  1. Navigate to the app menu builder in the edit mode of the application.
  2. Hover over the preferred component and click the remove icon () to remove.

The removed component will be listed back in the Components section in the left pane of the builder.

6. Points to note

  1. An application component can only reside in one space at a time.
  2. Spaces and sections will not be visible while accessing the application if they do not contain any application components.
  3. For your convenience, when you create an application from scratch, the app menu will be in sync with all devices. For example, the app menu configuration made on the web will be reflected for both mobile and tablet devices automatically. Once you click the app menu builder icon for mobile/tablet, any future changes to the web version will not affect the mobile/tablet layout.
  4. The visibility of certain elements in the app menu depends on the application theme you've chosen.
  5. System components will only be visible after the configurations have been completed by Admins or Developers, allowing users to access them from the app menu in the live mode of the application.
  6. The Creator mobile application version must be up-to-date to access the app menu feature.
