If you have an existing WhatsApp Business API client and wish to migrate it to a new setup using the same phone number, please follow the below mentioned steps or identify the changes to be made.

What is a Business Service Provider (BSP)?

BSP is a third-party provider well-versed in the WhatsApp Business Platform. They can help you communicate with your customers on the WhatsApp Business Platform. Click here to read more.

Suppose you are not a techie but want to connect WhatsApp with your technology, such as a multi-channel inbox, customer support system or a Bot platform. You can work with a BSP (Business Service Provider) to manage these communications between your business and customers. 

You must have a verified Facebook Business Manager for WhatsApp to approve your WABA. Learn more about the process here.

Do we support BSP to BSP Migration?  

Yes, we support BSP-to-BSP migration. But it's a manual process, and please take a note of the conditions to complete the migration successfully.

  1. The messages sent/received during the migration process will be queued by Meta. And these messages will reflect once the migration is completed and a WhatsApp channel is created in Desk.
  2. The existing business conversations will not be migrated.
  3. The existing message templates cannot be used in Desk.

Steps for BSP to BSP Migration

  1. The existing WABA must be verified, and the status as approved by Meta.
  2. The customer must request their existing business service provider to disable 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) for the corresponding business phone number.

Before migrating, you must ensure that your current provider disables 2FA.

      3. The migration can be processed only if the customer's business is verified by Meta.

      4. Customers should then complete the Embedded Signup from Desk (with Meta for the phone number linked to the old WABA) to create the new WABA.

      5. During the Desk's Embedded Signup process, the customer should:

            5.1. Select the same business name as the one that owns their current WABA.

            5.2. Do not add a phone number via the signup flow — we (your new BSP) will do that as part of the migration process.

      6. Prerequisites for migration

            a. The country code of the phone number.

            b. The business phone number.

            c. A preferred OTP verification mode (SMS / Voice call).

7. The business phone number must be verified via SMS or a voice call as soon as the migration is done.

You must use the international phone format with your country's dialing code for UK numbers, e.g.' +447123456789

8. Now create a WhatsApp channel in Desk.
