Zoho IoT supports WCAG compliance to ensure that users with disabilities can navigate and interact with the platform without barriers. This commitment enhances accessibility, promotes inclusivity, and helps meet legal and regulatory requirements. It also contributes to a better user experience for all users.

What is WCAG compliance?
   

WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is a set of international guidelines developed to ensure digital accessibility for people with disabilities. These guidelines help app developers make web apps more accessible and ensure that these apps can be perceived, operated, understood, and used by everyone, including individuals with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments.

WCAG compliance for Zoho IoT applications means that these applications must adhere to these global standards set by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) to cater to a wider spectrum of users with various needs and abilities.

Use Case 1

Let's assume you've set up an Industrial IoT (IIoT) monitoring system and hired Smith, a Tech Supervisor with minor vision issues. His daily tasks involve monitoring device data, managing alarms, and overseeing operational metrics through the Zoho IoT application. Using the vision accessibility options available, Smith customizes the interface by enlarging text and increasing contrast, allowing him to navigate dashboards and respond to alerts more comfortably and efficiently.
  1. Smith enables the zoom feature to improve readability when viewing data on dashboards, reports, and other screens.
  2. He also adjusts the character spacing, making the text appear less cramped and more comfortable to read based on his visual requirements.
  3. He uses a screen reader to have on-screen text read aloud to him.
  4. Additionally, he makes use of the magnify-on-hover option to enhance readability without putting strain on his eyes.
By leveraging the app’s accessibility controls, Smith is able to carry out all his daily IIoT monitoring tasks independently, efficiently, and comfortably, without the need for external assistance or specialized software.

Magnify Text on Hover

Enables text magnification on hover by holding the Option (Alt) key, aiding users who need larger text for better visibility.


Strikethrough Disabled Buttons


Applies a strikethrough style to disabled buttons, making them more visually distinguishable for users with cognitive or visual impairments.


Flash Screen for notifications


Enables a visual screen flash to alert users of incoming notifications, providing an alternative to sound-based alerts.


ARIA Landmark

Implements ARIA landmarks to help users quickly navigate between major sections of Zoho IoT using assistive technologies.

VISION

  1. Screen Reader

    A visually impaired technician uses a screen reader while monitoring equipment status on the Zoho IoT dashboard. The voice narration reads out live sensor values and alerts, allowing the technician to respond promptly to critical changes without needing visual cues.



  1. Zoom Functionality
An operator with low vision increases the zoom level to 125% while viewing device metrics on the Zoho IoT dashboard. This makes text and charts easier to read, reducing eye strain and allowing accurate monitoring without missing critical data.
