Migration of associated WhatsApp business phone numbers to Zoho Marketing Automation

Migration of associated WhatsApp phone numbers to Zoho Marketing Automation

Business Service Providers (BSPs) help you connect your WhatsApp Business Account with an application that can support multiple types of communication channels. If you want to reach multiple customers, record their responses, and send automated WhatsApp campaigns for events and other occasions, you need to use a BSP.

If you were already using another application or BSP before Zoho Campaigns, you need to migrate the associated WhatsApp phone numbers from the previous product to Zoho Campaigns. The phone numbers you intend to use to send WhatsApp campaigns need to be associated with Zoho Campaigns.

Overview

This doc walks you through:

  • What you need in place before you start a migration

  • What happens to your existing WhatsApp data during the move

  • Disabling two-step verification on the number

  • Connecting your WhatsApp Business Account and adding the phone number to Zoho Campaigns

Before you begin

Before you start the migration, make sure of the following:

  • Your Meta Business Manager account is verified. Meta won't approve a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) without this. Learn more

  • If the number is currently registered with another BSP, the existing (losing) WABA and the destination WABA in Zoho Campaigns belong to the same Meta Business Account.

  • You have access to the phone or landline associated with the number, so you can receive the OTP by text message or phone call during verification.

InfoInfo: Two-step verification (2FA) also needs to be turned off for the number before you can migrate it. See Disable two-step verification below.

What happens to your existing WhatsApp data

Migrating a number moves it from your previous BSP to Zoho Campaigns, but not everything comes with it.

NotesNote: Messages and conversation history aren't migrated to Zoho Campaigns. Your display name, quality rating, messaging limits, and OBA (Official Business Account) status are retained. Existing message templates migrate with the WABA, but you won't be able to use them in Zoho Campaigns. Recreate them in Zoho Campaigns after the migration completes.
