Zoho MCP FAQ

Zoho MCP FAQ

General

Is Zoho MCP only for Zoho services?

No. There are several tools from multiple third-party services like TrainerCentral, SDPonDemand, EndpointCentral, and more. There are plenty more services that are being consistently added such as GitLab, BitBucket, and more. You can find a more comprehensive list of supported third-party services here.

Is Zoho MCP an AI service?

The Zoho MCP service allows you to create MCP servers. On these servers you can configure tools available from MCP-ready services. This MCP server when connected to an MCP Client, provides the artificial intelligence of the MCP Client with the required context. This context will allow the MCP Client's AI to execute the required operations in the required services autonomously.

How many Zoho MCP servers can I create?

The Zoho MCP service does not impose any threshold limits on the number of MCP servers that can be created.

How many MCP Tools can I configure per Zoho MCP server?

The Zoho MCP service does not impose any limits on the number of tools that can be configured for your server. However, majority of the popular MCP Clients have a threshold on the number of tools an MCP server can have. For example, Cursor, at the moment does not allow more than 40 MCP Tools to be present in the MCP server.

The ideal option to ensure your MCP Client does not hallucinate and completes the workflow in the surest manner possible is by limiting to 300 tools per MCP server.

Do I need to be proficient in coding to use Zoho MCP?

No, technical knowledge is always helpful but lack of one is not a hindrance. The Zoho MCP service is built for all consumers seeking to leverage the benefits of creating AI agents to accelerate their business processes.

If you feel lost, you can:

  5. Contact support.

Connect MCP Servers

Why am I not able to connect my MCP server to my MCP Client?

If you're unable to connect your Zoho MCP server to one or more of the following might be the reason:
  1. Your MCP client does not support MCP Servers.
  2. Your MCP client has a limit on the number of MCP servers that can be added.
  3. Your MCP client has a limit on the number of tools that can be configured per MCP server.
  4. You subscription plan does not support the configurations required to connect to an MCP server.
  5. The MCP URL might not have been copied correctly.
  6. The MCP server is disabled, or not authorized properly.

Which MCP Clients support Zoho MCP?

Any MCP Client that supports MCP connection, will be able to connect to Zoho MCP server. All popular MCP clients like Claude, ChatGPT, Windsurf, Cursor, VS Code support Zoho MCP servers. You can find detailed steps to connect to these MCP clients in this help documentation.

Why is there automatic configuration for Cursor, and VS Code but not for other MCP Clients?

This is a limitation with other MCP Clients, and not with the Zoho MCP service. Cursor, and VS Code support automatic configuration, while the others haven't supported this feature yet.

Authorization

Who can set up Authorization via Connection?

Only the Super Admin of the organization can set up Authorization via Connection. Once configured, the Super Admin's OAuth Access and Refresh Tokens are shared with trusted members of the organization, allowing them to authorize their actions without needing to authenticate individually.

Does Authorization via Connection work for all services configured in the MCP Server?

Authorization via Connection is specifically used when adding tools from third-party services. For Zoho suite tools, Authorization on Demand is used by default. That said, both authorization types can be applied to both Zoho and third-party tools depending on your organization's requirements.

Security

Is it safe giving MCP servers permissions to access my modules?

Yes, it is safe. The access an MCP server provides to an MCP client is entirely dependent on the configured MCP Tools. The MCP Tools strictly define and determine the actions that are possible by the MCP Client on your services and its respective modules.

Can I share my MCP URL?

It is important that you treat your MCP URL with absolute confidentiality as you would your passwords. Your MCP URL is essentially an access URL to the services that have been configured in the MCP server.

If your MCP URL has been compromised for any reason, use the Regenerate API Key button present in the Connect section in the MCP console, to regenerate a new secure MCP URL.
