Streamline your candidate search for job openings with the Refine Match feature:
- From the list of matching candidates, click Refine Match.

- Enter relevant keywords, desired skills, work experience, location preferences, and job category to narrow down the matches.
For example, if you're hiring for a role that requires on-site presence, you can refine the matches by specifying the city, state, or country where the job is located. This ensures that you only see candidates who are either currently residing in or willing to work in that location, making it easier to identify suitable candidates who can easily commute or relocate. - Click Search to execute the refined candidate matching.
- Associate the most suitable candidates with open job positions from the refined matches.

- You can clear or edit the Refine Match criteria at any time to align the matches with your requirements.

- Edit Refined Match: Use this option to modify the existing refinement criteria like keywords, skills, experience, location, or job category. Zia will then update the matches based on your revised preferences.

- Clear Refined Match: This option reverts to the original set of matches provided by Zia's algorithm before any refinement criteria were applied.
Prerequisites
Before matching candidates with job openings, make sure that:
- Candidate records are available in the Zoho Recruit database.
- Candidate resumes or skill information are available for Zia to process. Zia extracts relevant skills, keywords, and other information from the available data to identify matching candidates.
- The candidates' skills and experience are relevant to the job opening's domain and industry. For example, if the job opening is for a Software Developer and the candidates have skills related to Sales and Marketing, Zia may be unable to find relevant matches.
- The Skill Set associated with the job opening has skills defined as Primary rather than Secondary to receive candidate suggestions from Zia.
Match Score Calculation
The match score is calculated using the following dimensions:
Dimension | Weightage | What It Considers |
Skills | 60% | Evaluates how well the candidate's skills align with the skills required for the job opening. Primary skills contribute 60% of the skills score, while Secondary skills contribute the remaining 40%. Zia also recognizes related and synonymous skills to improve matching accuracy. |
Keywords | 10% | Evaluates relevant job title–related terms and keywords found across the candidate profile and job opening. |
Experience | 10% | Compares the candidate's years of experience with the experience required for the job opening. |
Education | 10% | Matches educational qualifications, degrees, and fields of study against the job requirements. |
Industry | 10% | Compares the candidate's industry background with the industry specified for the job opening.

How Skills Are Evaluated
Skills play the most significant role in determining a match score.
When matching records, Zia evaluates:
Primary Skills, which represent the essential requirements for a job opening.
Secondary Skills, which contribute additional value but are not mandatory.
For example, a candidate may still receive a strong match score if their profile contains closely related skills that align with the job requirements.
Note: Zia also considers skill recency (the year a skill was last used) and proficiency level when calculating match scores. Candidates who have used a required skill more recently and have a higher proficiency level receive higher scores than those with less recent skill usage or lower proficiency levels.
