Clocking restrictions
Implementing clocking restrictions for scheduled shifts will ensure your employees stick to the shift timings. You can maintain accurate timesheets and reduce time theft.
Before you start
To set up the clocking restrictions, you must have admin access or access level permission of Manage account and other settings to configure settings in your Zoho Shifts account.
Early or late clock in restriction
When you want to restrict the clock in to some time earlier or later to the shift start time, you can use this setting. You can set the grace period up to which employees can clock in with respect to their shift start time.
To setup the early/late clock in restriction:
- Navigate to Settings -> Time & Attendance -> Time Clock -> Clock In/Out Restriction.
- Use the toggle beside Restrict clock in before shift start to enable or disable early clock in restriction.
- Use the toggle beside Restrict clock in after shift start to enable or disable late clock in restriction.
- Choose your preferred grace period options from the dropdown.
- Click the Save button at the bottom
Early or late clock out restriction
When you want to allow your employees to clock out earlier to their shift end time for emergencies or unavoidable situations, you can use this setting. You can set the grace time duration up to which employees can clock out before their shift end time.
To setup the late clock out restriction:
- Navigate to Settings -> Time & Attendance -> Time Clock -> Clock In/Out Restriction.
- Use the toggle beside Restrict clock out before shift end to enable or disable early clock out restriction.
- Use the toggle beside Restrict clock out after shift end to enable or disable late clock out restriction.
- Choose your preferred grace period option from the dropdown.
- Click the Save button at the bottom
Once you enable these clock in/out restrictions, employees will not be allowed to clock in or out beyond the set grace period. This helps organization to stick to shift timings with flexibility of a grace period. While you allow grace period for early or late clocking, you can check how this reflects in the timesheet with rounding setting.
