Alt Text on Zoho Social

Alt text, also known as alternate text or alternate tag, is a textual phrase used to describe an image on your social media account. Although search engines cannot crawl through images, alt text allows search bots to identify and understand your images and rank them accordingly. Note that an Alt Text only appears as a line of HTML code in the source code of your website or webpage.

Benefits of having an Alt Text added to your image 

Having a good alt text ascribed to your images can place them at the top of the search engine results page (SERP). This can help you drive more traffic to your website.
Visually impaired users utilize screen readers to understand pieces of information on a website. Adding alt text to your image makes your website accessible to all types of users.

Notes
You can include alt text only for images you choose to publish on Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, and Mastodon.

Adding an Alt Text on Zoho Social 

To add an alt text to the image you post via Zoho Social web application:

1. Click the New Post button on your dashboard.
2. Click the Attach Multiple Photos and Video option.


3. Pick your option from Desktop/ Media Library/ Cloud Picker/ Design on Canva to upload an image.



4.  Once you decide on the image and content, click the Alt Text option on the publishing window.

5. Start typing the alt text that best describes your image in the text area provided. Check the box if you want to apply the same alt text to all images.
6. Click Add.

Note:
  1. You can add separate alt text for each image, or apply a single alt text to all images by selecting the checkbox.
To add an alt text to the image you post via Zoho Social Android application:
  1. Click New post on your Social dashboard and click Create Post. 
  2. Choose the networks to which you want to post.
  3. Attach the required images from Camera or Gallery.
  4. Click Next in the top-right corner of the window.
  5. Click the Alt text button to add alternate text. 

  6. Enter the text in the text box.
  7. Click Done to add the alternate text to the images and then go ahead with publishing.

Note:
  1. In Zoho Social mobile app, if you're attaching multiple images in a post, you can add only the same alt text for all the images.
