Collect Responses in Offline Mode

Overview

Allow respondents to fill out surveys without an internet connection, with answers syncing automatically once connectivity is restored. You can lock your survey on a shared device so it resets after each submission, making it ideal for in-person data collection at events or counters. 

How to Collect Offline Responses

Create Offline Collector 

  1. Select the survey and click the Builder section.
  2. Click the Publish tab.
  3. Click Continue under the Offline Devices option.
  4. Enter a password in the Password field. This is used to access the admin console, where you can view and upload your offline responses.

Note: You can choose to enable kiosk mode, where you can load the same survey multiple times on the same device for different people to answer.
  1. Click Create Collector.
  2. The Publish tab displays the offline link. Use Access option to open the survey or click Copy to copy the survey.

Note: Internet connection is required initially to access the survey and to upload responses.
  1. You can also download the mobile application and manage all offline surveys.
  2. Now a unique offline survey link will be generated. To copy the link, click Copy. Paste the link into your browser's address bar to open it. To access the link, click Access option.
  1. To start recording responses, click Take Survey. You will be taken to the survey, where you or a respondent can complete it.
  2. If you've enabled the Kiosk mode, once a response is submitted, the survey will automatically reload for the next respondent.
Notes
Note: Since the offline responses are stored in the browser cache, don't clear your cache before uploading your responses.

Customize Survey Options   

  1. Click Rename to create a custom collector name.
  2. Click Preferences option from the left pane to configure offline survey settings.
  1. The survey preference configuration window appears as below.
  1. Change Admin Password - You can change the survey password. This password is required while viewing and uploading responses.
  2. Kiosk mode - Click the toggle button to enable kiosk mode. This displays your survey in a stand-alone booth where there is no internet connectivity.
  3. Restart Time - Enter the time after which the kiosk restarts after a response is submitted.
  4. Exit time - Enter the time after which the survey ends if there is no response or interaction.
  5. Choose where to redirect respondents after the survey restarts. You can either restart from the home page or directly start from the survey's first page.
  6. Auto-upload responses - Click the toggle button to upload responses automatically once an internet connection is available.

Upload Offline Responses       

  1. If you've enabled the auto-upload option (Preferences > Auto Upload ), your offline responses will be uploaded automatically to your reports once your device is connected to the internet.
  1. If you haven't enabled auto-upload, follow these steps to upload responses manually
    1. Go to the offline survey link and enter the password (Preferences > Password) you set during setup.
Offline survey authenticate

    1. Click Admin Console in the top-right corner of your page. If you click Admin Console without an active internet connection, an error message will appear: 'Internet connectivity is not available'. Click the Close button and try again when your internet connection is restored.
  1. Enter the password configured while setting up your offline survey.
  2. Click Upload All Responses.
 
  1. Click the    button to make changes to the responses submitted in offline mode before uploading them. If you wish to delete any of the responses collected, you can click   Create online surveys   next to that particular response. You can also click  Create online surveys  to view the responses before you upload them.
  2. Enter the same password again, then click Submit.        

Enable Auto-Upload      

  1. Click the Publish tab. 
  2. Click Preferences on the left pane.
  3. Enable the Auto Upload toggle automatically upload responses when an internet connection is available.
  4. Click Save.

Change the Password of Your Offline Survey       

  1. Click the Publish tab.
  2. Click Preferences on the left pane.
  3. Enter the new password in the change admin password field.
  4. Click Save.

Enable or Disable Kiosk Mode in the Offline Survey       

  1. Click the Publish tab.
  2. Click Preferences on the left pane.
  3. Click the Kiosk mode toggle to enable or disable it.
  4. Click Save.

Customize the End Page       

Any custom end page configured for your survey will also apply to the offline version.Learn more about customizing the survey end page on our Settings page.
