Managing One-on-One Chats, Groups, and Channels in Trident (Windows)

In this article, we'll explore the various features that will help you organize and utilize your chats efficiently.

Pinning Chats  

To pin a one-on-one chat, group, channel, or a threaded conversation:

  1. Click open the chat.

  1. Click the More Options  icon in the chatbox header.

  1. Select Pin Chat and choose a chat folder.


Alternatively, you can also:

  1. Right-click the chat you want to pin from the chat list.

  1. Select Pin Chat and choose a chat folder.


Creating Custom Chat Folders for Pinned Chats 

You can choose to pin your chats under the default folder My Pins or create a custom folder. To create a custom folder for your pinned chats:

  1. Navigate to the Pinned Chats section in the chat launcher tab.

  2. Click the More Options  icon next to My Pins.

  3. Click Add Folder.

  4. Enter the name for the folder.

  5. Check the existing pinned chats if you want them to be added to the new folder.

  6. Click Create

Note: You can expand and collapse pinned chat folders by clicking the folder in the pinned chat list.

Unpinning Chats 

To unpin a one-on-one chat, group, channel, or a threaded conversation:
  1. Click open the chat.

  1. Click the More Options  icon in the chatbox header.

  1. Select Unpin Chat.



Alternatively, you can also:
  1. Right-click the chat you want to unpin from the chat list.

  1. Select Unpin Chat.

Setting Reminders 

In addition to setting reminders for specific messages, you can set general reminders for yourself or for your teammates.

Assigning Reminders for Yourself 

To set a reminder for yourself:

  1. Click the More icon in the top-left corner.

  1. Select Reminders from the drop-down menu.

  1. Type your reminder in the Set a reminder textbox.

  1. Click the Calendar  icon and pick a due date.

  1. Select the time you want to be reminded, and click Save.

  1. Click Set.


Assigning Reminders for Your Teammates 

To set a reminder for one or more teammates:

  1. Click the More icon in the top-left corner.

  1. Select Reminders from the drop-down menu.

  1. Type your reminder in the Set a reminder textbox.

  1. Click the Calendar  icon and pick a due date.

  1. Select the time you want to be reminded, and click Save.

  1. Click the Assign User  icon.

  1. Search for the user by typing their name or email address and select them from the list of suggestions and click Add.

  1. Click Set.



To assign more users to a reminder you've already created:

  1. Click open the reminder.

  1. Click Assign.

  1. Search for the user by typing their name or email address and select them from the list of suggestions.

  1. Click Add.



NotesNote: To remove a reminder for a user, hover over their name, and click the Remove icon.

Reminding Users 

You can remind all the assigned users if they haven't completed the reminder by clicking it open and selecting Remind All.



To remind a specific user, hover over their name, and click Remind.

Viewing Reminders 

To view all of your reminders,

  1. Click the More icon in the top-left corner and
  2. Select Reminders from the menu list.
  3. Toggle between the For Me and Assigned to Others tabs.

NotesNote: Reminders you've set for yourself will appear under the For me tab.

 Marking Reminders  as Complete

To mark a reminder you've assigned for yourself as complete:

  1.  Click the More icon in the top-left corner and
  2. Select Reminders from the menu list.
  3. Under the For me tab, look for the reminder you want to mark as complete.
  4. Check the reminder to mark it as complete. 



Alternatively, click it open and select Mark as Complete in the reminder details pop-up.


Deleting Reminders 

To delete a reminder you've set:

  1. Click open the reminder you want to delete.

  1. Select Delete in the reminder details pop-up.



Accessing Chatbox Features

Besides the features above, there are a host of other options that'll help you make meaningful conversations.

To access the chatbox features:
  1. Click the More Option  icon in the chatbox header.

  1. Choose the required option as described below from the menu list.


The various options, their descriptions, and illustrations are as follows:

View Media: To view all multi-media files (images, videos, audio, files, and links) shared in a conversation.


Pop Out: To pop out the chatbox as a window and to pop in the chatbox inside the app
 

Mute: To silence messages and notifications. However, if a user @mentions you, you will be notified. You can mute a channel for one hour, eight hours, one day, one week, or forever. 


You can also mute a chat by right-clicking the chat in the chat list and selecting Mute from the menu list.

Notes

  • Muted chats will be listed under the Muted chat launcher tab. 
  • You can unmute a chat using the Unmute option.
  • Does not apply for threads.

Turn Off History: To disappear messages and not store them after they're seen by the recipient.

  1. You can resume storing the chat history using the Turn On History option.
  2. Does not apply for channels.

Copy Permalink: To copy a chat's URL and share with other users.
