Understanding the status icons and context menu in WorkDrive TrueSync on macOS based on FPE
Overlay icons
The overlay icons or the status icons within the WorkDrive TrueSync folder depict the synchronization status of your files and folders.
Let's see the different status icons below:
Notes:
- TrueSync status icons will now appear alongside the default FPE icons.
- The FPE icons and storage are managed by macOS.

Item is not downloaded to the device's hard drive. Clicking this icon downloads the item to the FPE's cache folder.

Item is being downloaded to the device's hard-drive, or is being saved to WorkDrive.

Available online: Files accessible only online, temporarily downloaded for preview and not stored locally.

Available offline: Files have been downloaded and are accessible without an internet connection, taking up hard drive space.

Partial sync: Indicates a mix of cloud-only and offline files within a folder.

|
Sync error: Indicates an error in syncing or downloading; resolves once the issue is fixed.
|
|
Sync in progress: Shows during syncing or making files offline until downloaded to the computer.

Overlay icon behavior in WorkDrive TrueSync for macOS
Important:
- Overlay icons have been refreshed to align with other system icons.
- Sometimes, users may experience TrueSync application slowness or observe missing overlay icons for files and folders. These issues are associated with FPE. Resolving them involves relaunching the Finder application, which can address errors related to file provider icons and other Finder-related issues.
Note: To prevent confusion, it's recommended to focus on and utilize only the TrueSync icon behavior, rather than trying to understand the combination of both TrueSync and FPE icons.Context menu helps you to efficiently manage your stored files or folders in WorkDrive TrueSync application. Simply right-click on a file or folder to access these options:
- Make Available Offline: Downloads the file(s) and keeps them stored locally, ensuring you can access them anytime without an internet connection.
- Make Available Online Only: Frees up desktop storage by removing the downloaded contents of the file(s). The files will remain visible but will be re-downloaded when you open them next time.
- View on Web: Open the selected file or folder in the WorkDrive web application.
- Copy WorkDrive Link: Copy the URL of the file or folder to easily share it with collaborators.
- Create External Share Link: Generate an external share link to securely collaborate with external collaborators with features like password protection expiration dates, and more.
- Share: Collaborate effortlessly by sharing files and folders with team members, clients, or partners. WorkDrive TrueSync enables you to securely share and collaborate with both internal and external users. Learn more about sharing files and folders using WorkDrive TrueSync
